Fleet Services Corporation Recognizes Public University’s Funding Needs

NEW PALTZ — Fleet Services Corporation has donated $20,000 to the SUNY New Paltz Foundation to establish the Fleet Bank Endowed Scholarship Fund at the university. Beginning in fall 2000, a scholarship in the amount of the annual interest earned will be awarded by the New Paltz Admissions Office to an incoming freshman who has demonstrated academic achievement and financial necessity.

“We’ve enjoyed a relationship with SUNY New Paltz for several years, and they identified a need,” said Ingrid Stinebrickner, senior market manager for Fleet Bank. “It’s a public institution.” Dan Sistarenik, director of financial aid at New Paltz, expressed thanks on behalf of the university. He said, “Fleet Bank often supports our services for students and is always considering new customer service ideas.”

Sistarenik said that New Paltz’ senior financial aid advisor, Gayle Grunwald, played an instrumental role in the establishment of the scholarship through her discussions with Fleet personnel concerning “the challenge that limited scholarship dollars pose to state colleges.”

On February 15, representatives of Fleet and SUNY New Paltz gathered on the ninth floor of the campus’s Haggerty Administration Building for a check presentation. Stinebrickner imparted the scholarship funds to New Paltz associates Sistarenik; Grunwald; Barbara Geider, vice president of student affairs; and Richard Podgorski, vice president of advancement.
