Women’s Soccer Falls To Oneonta
NEW PALTZ — Elizabeth McGrail had two first half goals and Stephanie Poppiti scored in the second half to lead Oneonta past New Paltz, 3-0, in women’s soccer on Thursday at Alumni Field.
Minisink Valley graduate Lisa Carey assisted on the first goal for Oneonta (14-2-2 overall, 10-0-0 SUNYAC) at 3:16, while Olga Grechka passed off to Poppiti at 63:48.
Freshman Kathryn Bart had the (11-7-1 overall, 6-3-1 SUNYAC) Hawks best scoring opportunity in the second half, putting the ball just wide left. Laura Neander made four saves for New Paltz, which hosts Manhattanville at 3 p.m. next Wednesday before again taking on the top-seeded Red Dragons at 11 a.m. next Friday in the semifinals of the SUNYAC Tournament at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta. Third-seeded Oswego faces #2 seed Cortland in the other semifinal at 1:30 p.m., with the SUNYAC Championship game scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
