An Important Event for Current Business Students and Alumni
Business and Accounting Alumni Day October 16, 1999
The department of Business Administration is proud to announce its annual Business and Accounting Alumni Day. It is scheduled for October 16, 1999 at the Hopfer House on the New Paltz campus. This annual event is an excellent opportunity for current students to meet with alumni of their program. Current students will learn about the importance of internships, what it’s like our there in the real working world, skills students need to focus on now, recommendations for a job search and more.
Special Presentation A special presentation will be given during an alumni panel discussion by Ari Kaplan, Accounting, Class of “96 and Controller at Techspace, Inc. The topic is “IT Opportunities in Start-Up New Media and Technologies” and will discuss new job opportunities that are developing in new media, venture capital and more.
Alumni/Mentor Program A new program called the Alumni/Mentor Program is being introduced at this event. The basic concept is that an Alumnus “adopts” a current business or accounting student. The goal of the program is to have someone who has been through our program provide support, encouragement, and guidance to an undergraduate student. The alumnus and student meet at least three times a year: once each semester and once during the summer. We also hope to add this as an annual social component to future alumni events. Students and alumni interested in volunteering for this program should email businessprograms@newpaltz.edu.
This is one event of many taking place during the campus Homecoming 1999, October 15 -17. Admission to the Business and Accounting Alumni Day is free and open to current students and alumni. The schedule is as follows:
9:30 – 10:00 Breakfast Mingle 10:00 – 12:00 Alumni Panel Discussion and Presentation by Ari Kaplan 12:30 – 2:00 Join alumni and faculty for the Homecoming BBQ (advanced ticket purchase required)
