Concert at SUNY New Paltz Features the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet with Guest Artists
NEW PALTZ — On Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at 8:00 PM, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet returns to the Julien J. Studley Theatre at SUNY New Paltz for a concert featuring guest musicians Barbara Hardgrave and Ruthanne Schempf.
The members of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet, principal players in our region’s orchestra, hold numerous distinctions as faculty members of the Department of Music and musicians of regional and national renown. Joining the quartet this evening are fellow faculty members Ruthanne Schempf, piano, and Barbara Hardgrave, mezzo soprano. The program for this special concert includes Frank Bridge’s Quintet in d, for piano and string quartet, performed by the quartet and Ruthanne Schempf; the lyrical Chansons Perpetuel of Ernest Chausson, featuring Barbara Hardgrave; and Herbert Haufrecht’s Scherzando.
Tickets to the concert are available in the lobby of the Julien J. Studley Theatre beginning at 7:00 PM on March 6. Prices for tickets are as follows: $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and faculty/staff of SUNY New Paltz, $4 for SUNY students.
