The State University of New York at New Paltz has been selected for inclusion in The Princeton Review’s Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2012 Edition. New Paltz was also featured in the previous two editions of the guide, which was first published in 2010.

New Paltz’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability and responsibility is reflected in “green” initiatives throughout the campus, from academic offerings to recycling programs to solar usage to facilities and construction. More information about sustainability practices at New Paltz can be found online at http://www.newpaltz.edu/green/.

“The State University of New York takes great pride in the increasing sustainability efforts on our campuses, and contributing to an energy-smart New York is one of six primary focuses of our strategic plan, The Power of SUNY,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “We could not be more pleased that ten of our campuses have been recognized on the Princeton Review’s List of Green Colleges. Congratulations to each campus on this much-deserved national distinction.”

The Princeton Review’s Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2012 Edition profiles 322 institutions of higher education in the United States and Canada that demonstrate notable commitments to sustainability in their academic offerings, campus infrastructure, activities and career preparation. The Princeton Review chose the 322 schools based on a survey it conducted in 2011 of hundreds of colleges across the U.S. and Canada to tally its annual “Green Rating” scores of colleges for its school profiles in its college guidebooks and website. The survey asks administrators more than 50 questions about their institution’s sustainability-related policies, practices and programs.
