Arbor Day Campus Tree Walk tour April 28
Starting at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 28, the SUNY New Paltz Tree Committee invites you on an Arbor Day-themed guided tour of the Campus Tree Walk, comprised of the work of students, faculty and Facilities Maintenance & Operations staff have done to plant and protect a diverse array of trees on our campus.
Serving as guide on the tour is Eric Keeling, associate professor of biology and one of the committee’s core members.
Tour attendees should plan to meet Keeling at 2 p.m. at the Red Maple on the southwest corner of Old Main Quad, which can be found here using the Campus Tree Map.
The Campus Tree Committee is a collective of students, faculty and staff with membership representing the Biology Department, the Office of Campus Sustainability, Facilities Maintenance & Operations and other campus units.
Together, they designed the Campus Tree Walk, an educational resource that consists of two marked trails and accompanying brochure that serves as a guide to 25 tree species and their benefits.
SUNY New Paltz first joined the select group of U.S. colleges and universities that have met Tree Campus USA standards in 2017. Read more here.
