Jessica Binns-Dickinson appointed new Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management
SUNY New Paltz is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Binns-Dickinson to the newly created position of Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management following a competitive national search. Her start date will be Jan. 3, 2022.
Binns-Dickinson brings more than a decade of experience in enrollment management, marketing, student services and academic affairs to the role. She will oversee Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and Summer and Winter Session planning and recruitment, among other responsibilities.
“It’s a privilege to be able to join the SUNY New Paltz community in this capacity, and I’d like to thank the search committee, Vice President Gant, and my new colleagues for the opportunity to serve at one of the top public institutions in the Northeast,” Binns-Dickinson said. “I look forward to partnering with faculty, staff, and administration to strengthen SUNY New Paltz’s potential for growth and support the university’s strategic enrollment goals.”
Binns-Dickinson comes to New Paltz from New Jersey City University, where she served as Director of Enrollment Management and provided leadership on initiatives including undergraduate and graduate recruitment and communications, the Transfer Resource Center and new student orientation programs. She previously worked at Montclair State University and New Jersey Institute of Technology.
She has expertise in digital marketing and use of data in new student recruitment. Her experience in public higher education aligns with the SUNY New Paltz mission to serve and expand educational access to a diverse community of students, including first-generation and other traditionally underserved populations.
Binns-Dickinson’s appointment fulfills a goal outlined in the restructuring plan for the Division of Enrollment Management that was articulated in summer 2021.
Reporting to Vice President for Enrollment Management Jeff Gant, she will be responsible for creating a strategic recruitment plan to guide the work of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions; collaborate with colleagues in Academic Affairs to facilitate effective recruitment and retention strategies; collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Communication & Marketing to continue developing and executing multi-channel marketing efforts for prospective and current students, parents, school counselors and others; work to optimize the College’s use of the Slate Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) tool to support a strong return on that investment; and implement strategies that support the College’s commitments to anti-racism and increasing diversity and educational access, among other duties.
“I’m thrilled that Jessica will be joining SUNY New Paltz and the Division of Enrollment Management,” Vice President Gant said. “She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience enacting the types of leading-edge recruitment programs we’re planning to bring to the College. She’s the right candidate for us at just the right time, and I’m looking forward to working with her to build on the excellent work already underway.”
Binns-Dickinson holds a master’s degree in student affairs and higher education counseling from Montclair State University and earned her undergraduate degree at Kean University. She is working toward an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University and expects to complete it in 2022.
