Men’s Basketball Knocks off Geneseo

GENESEO, NY — The men’s basketball traveled to Geneseo tonight and defeated the Knights by a score of 75-71. The Hawks led by 13 points in the first half before the Knights fought back for a 35-32 intermission in favor of SUNY New Paltz. In the second half, New Paltz went on an 11-2 run to open the lead to eight points at 59-51 with 10:55 remaining. The Knights came to within two at the 6:36 mark but the Hawks held on for the win. The Hawks had five players in double figures, with senior John Hauser leading the way with 21 points on seven of 10 from the floor. Jimmy Sugrue added 13 points and Amseshem Foluke-Henderson and Tony Cannon each chipped in with 12 points. Matt Irwin finished with 10 points and eight assists.
The Hawks advance to 8-7 on the season and 3-5 in SUNYAC play. SUNY New Paltz will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Brockport at 4 pm.
