SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Defeats Golden Eagles in Overtime
KINGSTON, NY — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team grabbed a 2-1 overtime victory against St. Joseph’s.
Less than two minutes into the overtime period sophomore forward Jaime McBain (Troy, NY) scored the game-winner off a pass from junior forward Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream, NY). McBain also scored the Hawk’s first goal of the affair at the 66-minute mark. In yesterday’s contest, versus RPI, McBain scored the first goal of her collegiate career.
St. Joesph’s (6-8) took a 1-0 lead at 19:44 when freshman midfielder Meghan Brady (Rocky Point, NY) scored unassisted. After a collision with freshman goalkeeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) the ball trickled off Brady’s foot and crossed the goal line to give the Golden Eagles the edge going into halftime.
SUNY New Paltz (8-5-1) tied the game on McBain’s first tally, 20 minutes into the second half. Freshman forward Kate Addiss (Amherst, NY) and Kelty combined to set-up McBain for the game-tying goal.
Boccard finished the game with ten saves, earning her eighth win of 2005. Senior goalkeeper Katie Schnitzenbaumer (Central Morchies, NY) made six saves for St. Joseph’s in the loss.
