College honors academic excellence at fall 2019 Outstanding Graduates Ceremony
SUNY New Paltz welcomed the friends, family and faculty of exceptional graduating students for the Outstanding Graduates Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 12.
This celebration of student excellence, in and out of the classroom, is a biannual tradition at New Paltz, providing a valuable opportunity at the end of each semester for the campus community to recognize the hard work, talent and dedication of graduating students as they prepare to advance to the next phase of their lives and careers.

The Outstanding Graduates are truly the “best of the best”: students who have gone above and beyond as scholars and leaders in the classroom, and also in independent research experiences, engagement with clubs and honor societies, conference attendance and presentations, internships, jobs, and other co-curricular activities.
“As outstanding graduates, you are part of an impressive subset of students who have achieved at exceptional levels,” said Interim Provost Barbara G. Lyman. “You have impressed your faculty with your commitment and with the contributions you have made to this community of learners, and we feel fortunate to have been part of your undergraduate experience. Congratulations on what you have achieved in your time here, and we look forward to seeing where life takes you next.”
The ceremony convenes undergraduate and graduate students from all five of New Paltz’s schools: the School of Business, School of Education, School of Fine & Performing Arts, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the School of Science & Engineering.
Outstanding Graduates are nominated by faculty mentors who have played a key role in supporting their intellectual and creative ambitions.
