Hawks Roll Past Polytechnic
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team, ranked 7th in Division III, needed just over an hour to defeat Polytechnic 3-0 (30-16, 30-14, 30-21) this evening at Elting Gym.
The Hawks used a balanced effort to push their overall mark to 17-8 and improved to 6-2 in NECVA play. SUNY New Paltz had just 14 errors in the three games and hit .380 for the match. The Hawks also had 17 service aces to extend their winning streak to three. SUNY New Paltz has also won six of its last seven matches.
Juniors Greg Jackson (Central Square, NY) and Ryan Bullard (Smithtown, NY) and sophomore Jeff Lee (Clifton Park, NY) each had six kills for the Hawks. Jackson and Bullard each played errorless volleyball while Lee committed only one error.
Junior Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) had 26 assists in two games. Senior Jason Karpf (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) came on to record 10 assists in the third game.
Junior Michael Kelly (Boston, MA) had led the Fighting Blue Jays (8-19, 1-9) with six kills.
