Hawks Continue Roll With Win at RPI
TROY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team won four of six singles matches and two out of three in the doubles competition to come away with a 6-3 win at RPI this afternoon.
The Hawks (6-1) top three singles players, freshman Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY), senior Kerry Farrell (Rockville Center, NY) and freshman Alexandra Goldberg (Scarsdale, NY) all prevailed in straight sets.
In addition, sophomore Jen Larson (Port Jervis, NY) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at number five singles. With their victories, Goldberg and Larson are each a perfect 7-0 this season.
Yamakawa and Farrell teamed up for an 8-4 win at number one singles while Goldberg and Larson registered an 8-3 victory in the second flight.
RPI dropped to 4-2 with the loss.
Singles – #1 Eri Yamakawa (NP) defeated Emily Emerick (RPI) 6-4, 6-4. #2 Kerry Farrell (NP) defeated Clarynne Ishikawa (RPI) 6-3, 6-4. #3 Alexandra Goldberg (NP) defeated Lydia Lindhult (RPI) 6-0, 6-1. #4 Sara Goldstein (NP) lost to Florine Cannelle (RPI) 1-6, 2-6. #5 Jen Larson (NP) defeated Maggie LaManque (RPI) 6-1, 6-1. #6 Amanda Rosario (NP) lost to Erica Sherman (RPI) 3-6, 2-6.
Doubles – #1 Yamakawa/Farrell (NP) defeated Ishikawa/Emerick (RPI) 8-4. #2 Goldberg/Larson (NP) defeated Lindhult/LaManque (RPI) 8-3. #3 Goldstein/Laura Thomas (NP) lost to Anne Marinaro/Cannelle (RPI) 6-8.
