Erikson Scores Twice; Hawks Pick First Win Over Union

SCHEDECTADY, NY — Junior Patricia Erikson (Massapequa Park, NY) scored two goals, including the game-winner midway through the second half, to give SUNY New Paltz a 4-3 victory over Union this evening.

Union and SUNY New Paltz traded goals in the first half and the two teams even at two at the break. Sophomore Kelly Proper (Red Hook, NY) took a pass from freshman Jacqueline Sisco (Wappingers Falls, NY) for the Hawks first goal. Later in the first half, freshman Ashley Smith (Selden, NY) scored her first collegiate goal for the second goal of the half.

Sophomore Nicole Kovac made five of her eight saves in the second half to help the Hawks (3-6) earn their first win over Union in four tries.

Jessica Trotter scored two goals for Union who dropped to 1-7 with the loss.

The Hawks will play at 13th ranked Skidmore on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
