Oneonta Edges SUNY New Paltz

ONEONTA, NY — Senior Sarah Johnson scored in the fifth minute of play and Oneonta’s defense held up the rest of the way in a 1-0 victory over the Hawks this evening.

The lone goal of the game on a penalty corner with junior Lauren Christensen setting up Johnson who fired a shot past SUNY New Paltz sophomore goalie Nicole Kovac.

The Hawks (1-6, 1-1) outshot the Red Dragons 5-2 in the first half and held a 4-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Kovac made seven saves for the Hawks who held the Red Dragons (6-1, 2-0) to their lowest goal output of the season.

Oneonta goalie Kelly Mohr made three saves to earn her second shutout of the season.
