Kaiser Named SUNYAC Player of the Week
NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz junior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY — Bayport-Blue Point HS) was named the SUNYAC Player of the Week this afternoon.
Kaiser averaged 3.9 kills, 3.7 digs and had a .330 hitting percentage while leading the Hawks to a first place finish in the SUNY New Paltz Invitational last weekend (Sept 17-18). The Hawks won three of their four matches in the invitational by a 3-0 score and dropped just one game in the two-day event.
Her top performance of the weekend was a 15-kill, 21-dig effort in a 3-1 victory over Elmira. She also added 12 kills and 10 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Oneonta, 10 kills and a .450 hitting percentage in the 3-0 triumph over Mount St. Mary and six kills, six digs, four blocks and two service aces in a 3-0 win over SUNY Farmingdale.
The 5-11 Kaiser is averaging a team-best 3.0 kills and 2.5 digs per game.
With a mark of 7-2 on the season, SUNY New Paltz has won its last five matches. The Hawks will face conference rivals SUNY Cortland, SUNYIT, Oneonta, Potsdam and Plattsburgh this weekend (Sept. 24-25) at SUNY Cortland.
