Hawks Struggle at William Paterson

WAYNE, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team shot 26 percent from the field and William Paterson senior forward Rory Caswell (Toms River, NJ) recorded his first career double-double to lead the Pioneers to a 72-44 win over the Hawks this afternoon in Wayne, NJ.

New Paltz, playing its third game in five days, dropped its second in a row and fell to 3-5. The Hawks were held without a field goal for the final 14:24 of the first half and dug themselves a 32-14 halftime deficit. William Paterson outscored New Paltz 26-6 during that time to build its comfortable lead.

Senior guard Matt Daudier (South Floral Park, NY) led the Hawks with eight points. The Hawks struggled on the offensive end throughout the day managing just three, first half field goals and were 13-of-50 from the floor for the game.

Caswell finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Pioneers who are now 9-3. Senior guard Brandon Constantine (Teaneck, NJ) scored a game-high 17 points for William Paterson who has now won three in a row.

The Hawks will host conference rival SUNY IT on Tuesday evening (Jan. 13) at 8:00 p.m. New Paltz is 1-1 in the SUNYAC.
