NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz freshman guard Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream, NY) and Fredonia junior forward Katie Estes were named the Co-Players of the Week in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) this afternoon.
Kelty averaged 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game in a pair of New Paltz victories last week. She had 10 points, four rebounds, and one assist in a hard-fought 47-37 win over City College of New York on Jan. 8. Two days later, Kelty had 20 points and 10 assists in an 82-76 victory over Skidmore.
Kelty shot .529 from the field and was 4-of-8 from three-point range during the two games. Her performance helped the Hawks climb to 3-6 on the season.
Estes helped lead Fredonia to a 2-0 week as well. She averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. Estes had 13 points and 10 rebounds in a 65-59 win over William Smith. She began the week with an 18-point, four-rebound, effort in a 77-69 victory over Hilbert.
Estes leads the Blue Devils in scoring (12.6) and rebounding (7.9). Fredonia stands at 4-6 on the season.
