Women’s Volleyball Team Registers 3-0 Win

HOBOKEN, NJ – — Junior outside hitter Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) and sophomore outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) had eight kills apiece to lead SUNY New Paltz to a 3-0 win over Stevens Tech this evening.

Junior defensive specialist Denee Miggins (Kingstonk, NY) added 15 digs for the Hawks (1-3) who picked up their first win of the season after dropping three matches in Skidmore Invitational on Saturday.

New Paltz ran off the final eight points of the first game to break a 22-22 tie and claim a 30-22 win. After Stevens Tech jumped out to an 18-13 lead in game two, the Hawks answered with a 10-2 run and eventually pulled out a 30-27 win. New Paltz took control of game three and at one point built a 17-7 lead before winning the game 30-22.

Junior Margeritte Abdelkodoos had 10 kills and 15 digs for Stevens Tech who fell to 2-2.

The Hawks will travel to Cortland, NY on Friday for the two-day Red Dragon Classic hosted by conference rival Cortland
