Swanson Named Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach
NEW PALTZ, NY — First-year Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach Cassandra Quackenbush has named Kurt Swanson to be her assistant coach for the 2003-04 year.
For the last 13 years, Swanson was a Fitness Center Technician at Phoenix College in Arizona. In that role he maintained the strength training schedule for all athletic teams and managed the daily operational procedures for The College’s 4500 square foot fitness center and 1500 square foot weight training facility,
At Phoenix College he also spent four years as an adjunct faculty member and strength coach. Swanson was responsible for teaching general strength training classes and coached sport specific conditioning classes for baseball, basketball, and track & field utilizing plyometrics, speed, quickness, and agility, core stability training, flexibility, and nutritional counseling.
Swanson, now a resident of Red Hook, NY, earned a liberal arts degree from SUNY Farmingdale in 1982. From there he went on Adelphi University where he received a degree in physical education and exercise science in 1984.
