Knight to Serve As Interim Head Women’s Soccer Coach

NEW PALTZ — Jennifer Knight has been named the interim head women’s soccer coach at SUNY New Paltz for the 2003 season. Knight will take over the team while head coach Colleen Bruley is on a leave of absence.

A resident of Copley, Ohio, Knight brings eight years of coaching experience to the New Paltz campus. She began her coaching career in 1995 with a two-year stint at Revere High School. Knight then spent three years at Hudson High School where she helped coach the team to a second place finish in the state tournament in 1999. From Hudson High School, Knight moved on to Westlake High School where she spent two years.

Along with her high school duties, Knight has also coached at numerous camps and clinics. She spent three seasons as a coach in the Greater Akron Premier League and five years with the Hudson United Soccer Club.

Knight owns a National Youth License and a National “C” License from the United States Soccer Federation.

She was a member of the women’s soccer team at Ohio Wesleyan for two years before transferring to the University of Akron. Knight graduated from Akron in 2001 with a degree in American Government and has completed one year of graduate work in physical education with an emphasis in sport psychology at Northern Illinois University.
