Moore Wins SUNYAC Shot Put Championship

GENEVA, NY – — Sophomore Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) brought a conference championship back to New Paltz winning the shot put event at the 2003 SUNYAC Championship this afternoon in Geneva, NY.

Moore captured the title with a throw of 14.93 meters. Ed Jaskulski of Brockport was second with a throw 14.54 meters.

The Hawks scored 14 of their 26.5 points in the shot put as junior Bryan Lundy (Stormville, NY) finished fourth with a mark of 14.22 meters. Both Moore and Lundy earned the right to compete at the ECAC Championship on March 8 with their performances today.

The Hawks finished seventh among nine teams. Geneseo took home the conference title with 160.5 points.

The women’s team also produced three ECAC qualifiers. Freshman Kate Choromanski (Shelton, CT) ran an ECAC qualifying time of 3.08.17 in the 1000 meters to capture sixth place.

Junior Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) was seventh in the long jump and qualified for the ECAC Championship with a mark of 5.06 meters. Freshman Jennifer Hutchinson (Queensbury, NY) was fifth in the pole vault and earned a trip to the ECAC Championship with a mark of 2.90 meters.

The women’s squad finished ninth with 11 points. Geneseo took won the championship with 203 points.
