Seventy-three New Paltz student-athletes honored by SUNYAC
A total of 73 student-athletes across SUNY New Paltz’s seven varsity athletics programs were honored by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) for academic excellence in fall 2015.
Forty-two New Paltz student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s List, while 65 were tabbed to the All-Academic Team. A total of 35 student-athletes made both lists.
Women’s soccer led the way with 10 Commissioner’s List honorees, while men’s soccer, women’s volleyball and men’s cross country all placed six on the Commissioner’s List. Field hockey (5), women’s cross country (5) and women’s tennis (4) rounded out the remainder of the teams that had Commissioner’s List recipients.
Men’s soccer landed 13 on the All-Academic Team, while field hockey and women’s soccer boasted 11 honorees apiece. Women’s cross country (10), women’s volleyball (8), men’s cross country (8) and women’s tennis (4) rounded out the remainder of the All-Academic Team recipients.
In order to qualify for the Commissioner’s List, a student-athlete must complete the season as a varsity athlete and must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 for at least three semesters at the college. The All-Academic Team honors varsity athletes who have earned a minimum 3.3 grade point average for the semester in which they competed.
