Hawks Dispose of Lehman, NJ City
NEW PALTZ — New Paltz men’s volleyball defeated Lehman and New Jersey City Saturday to run their season record to 17-15.
Against Lehman, the Hawks cruised in three straight games 32-30, 30-26, and 30-23. Sean Riley (Port Jefferson, NY) recorded his 500th block of his career and finished the match with 9 kills, 9 blocks, and 6 digs. Mike La Rocco (Hauppauge, NY) led the Hawks in kills with 14, Jim Cramer (New Oxford, PA) had 29 assists and Beau Warren (Canandaigua, NY) had 9 kills, 5 blocks, 8 digs, 2 aces and 20 assists.
In New Paltz’s second match of the afternoon, NJ City University stole the first game of the match away from the Hawks 30-28. The Hawks shook that game off though, and pounded the visitors in the next three games 30-21, 30-26, and 30-18. Beau Warren recorded his fifth triple double in the last seven matches finishing with 19 kills, 10 digs, and 10 assists. Sean Riley added a double double with 14 kills, and 14 digs. Chris Ganje (Rexford, NY) and Steve Bristow (Richmond, VA) both were in double figures in kills with 14 and 11 respectively, and Jim Cramer had 38 assists.
Men’s volleyball will next take on Sacred Heart on Tuesday at Elting beginning at 7:00 pm.
