Women’s Softball Swept By RPI

TROY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader today at RPI. The Hawks fell in game one 10- 0 and in game two 6-2.

In game one, Jen Varrone (New Paltz, NY) pitched all four innings giving up seven earned runs on eleven hits. New Paltz could only muster five hits in the game with Tricia Cascio (Farmingville, NY) leading the way with two.

In game two, Cascio went 3 for 4 and Valerie Blackman (Castle Creek, NY) was 2 for 4 in a losing effort. Kristin Ackerman (Middletown, NY) pitched the entire game, giving up four earned runs on seven hits.

The women’s softball team will next host Utica/Rome Saturday as they open their conference season.
