The October 2024 WellNYS Challenge: Stay healthy with an apple a day
The Employee Assistance Program’s WellNYS Everyday site has published its Daily To-Do calendar for October 2024, which encourages employees to eat a New York state apple each day.
While the common wisdom of eating an apple a day keeping the doctor away may not entirely be accurate, eating an apple is an easy healthy habit to incorporate into your routine, and the National Library of Medicine notes in a study that “the small fraction of U.S. adults who eat an apple a day do appear to use fewer prescription medications.”
The EAP offers different ways for employees to give daily apple eating a try this month, including taking part in a free webinar on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at noon.
View the calendar in full below or here as a pdf, or take a look at EAP’s monthly newsletter, Frontline Employee, for more self-care ideas.
About the Employee Assistance Program
The mission of the Employee Assistance Program is to provide a comprehensive, confidential, worksite-based program to support faculty and staff, as well as their families, in navigating emotional, legal, financial, grief, change, relationship, substance or domestic violence issues.
EAP is funded through the collective bargaining agreements between the State of New York and the public employee unions: CSEA, PEF, UUP, NYSCOPBA, GSEU, Council 82, and DC-37. The Office of Employee Relations (OER) contributes on behalf of Management/Confidential employees.
