School of Business’s Rendesia Scott recognized for her work in advisement by the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce

Center for Business Advising Director Rendesia Scott will receive the Black Business Leadership Award at the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce’s Black Business Community Celebration on June 18 for her continued contributions to the Ulster County community in advising and guiding Business students into the corporate world. 

She has been with the School of Business in an advisement capacity since 2005.  Prior, she was an advisor within the Educational Opportunity Program at SUNY New Paltz. 

Her journey at SUNY New Paltz is marked by her unwavering dedication to student success and her commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive and autonomous environment. Her career trajectory, from serving as an advisor in the Educational Opportunity Program to her current role as Director of the Center of Business Advising, reflects her passion for empowering students to realize their full potential. 

One of Scott’s most notable achievements is her instrumental role in improving retention and graduation rates within the School of Business. Through strategic interventions and personalized advisement, she has helped Business students overcome obstacles and stay on track toward graduation, achieving the largest graduation rates of all schools within the University.  

Overall, her story is one of dedication, perseverance, and a deep-rooted commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. Her impact on student success and her contributions to her community leave a legacy of excellence and inclusion.
