University appoints Jaclyn Cirello as first Associate Director for Student Wellbeing & Prevention Education
The Division of Student Affairs is excited to announce the appointment of Jaclyn Cirello as the University’s first Associate Director for Student Wellbeing & Prevention Education.
The new role expands work that Cirello has been engaged with since she came to SUNY New Paltz in 2017 as the College Prevention Coordinator, part of a grant-funded initiative at the state level to combat drug use and underage drinking among students. She was later appointed as Coordinator of Wellbeing Initiatives and Outreach.
In this role, Cirello oversaw all funded prevention activities, including the development of a campus-community coalition, campus-community needs assessment and implementation of alcohol and substance use interventions.
She has also worked collaboratively with campus and community partners to help provide opioid overdose awareness programs and Narcan trainings. She led the recent effort to install opioid emergency kits at key sites across the New Paltz campus.
In her new role as Associate Director for Student Wellbeing and Prevention Education, Cirello will continue in her leadership of the Holistic Hawks Committee and expand prevention efforts on campus including alcohol and substance use, mental health, physical health and wellbeing.
