Chemistry Rocks! Family Mole Night in campus science labs returns Oct. 26

Students and faculty in SUNY New Paltz’s Department of Chemistry will welcome families to experience exciting, live scientific experiments on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 6-8 p.m. on the Coykendall Science Building’s third floor.

Children ages 6-12 and their families are invited for hands-on science experiments covering a wide range of topics, including the physical properties of bandages and the acid-base reactions that occur in our stomachs.

Reservations are required as space is limited. Please email Office Assistant Brandon Reuter at reuterb@newpaltz.edu to reserve a spot!

As in previous years, all experiments are designed and led by New Paltz students from the Chemistry Club.

Named for a unit of measurement used by chemists to express the ratio of mass to atomic mass, Family Mole Night is held in conjunction with the American Chemical Society’s efforts to promote the impact of chemistry in everyday life. This year’s theme is “The Healing Power of Chemistry.”
