Celebrating spring 2023 Outstanding Graduates
SUNY New Paltz welcomed the friends, family and faculty of exceptional graduating students at the President’s Reception for Outstanding Graduates on Friday, May 19.
This celebration of student excellence, in and out of the classroom, is a biannual tradition at New Paltz, providing a valuable opportunity at the end of each semester for the campus community to recognize the hard work, talent and dedication of graduating students as they prepare to advance to the next phase of their lives and careers.

“New Paltz is a special place because of students who come with a particular interest and passion, and then are joined by our phenomenal faculty and staff to create pathways to academic success,” said President Darrell P. Wheeler. “We value the contributions that you’ve made in the classroom and in your community service, and recognize that this is just a launching pad for your career going forward.”
The ceremony convenes representatives of all five of New Paltz’s schools – the School of Business, School of Education, School of Fine and Performing Arts, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the School of Science and Engineering – for an event that pays tribute to exemplary scholarship across the disciplines.
The Outstanding Graduates are truly the “best of the best”: students who have gone above and beyond as scholars and leaders in the classroom, and also in independent research experiences, engagement with clubs and honor societies, conference attendance and presentations, internships, jobs, and other co-curricular activities. They are nominated by faculty mentors who have played a key role in supporting their intellectual and creative ambitions.
