The Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion will offer the following trainings and workshops in the coming weeks. Each of these sessions is open to all members of the campus community unless otherwise noted, though they are designed primarily to support the development needs and interests of faculty and staff.
In August 2021, we’re again offering some of our popular sessions designed to help faculty and staff prepare for all aspects of their retirement.

Phased Retirement Information Session
Monday, Aug. 16, 12 – 1 p.m.

Description: Full-time MC and UUP-represented professionals who have at least 10 years of full-time consecutive SUNY service and who are retirement-eligible may now participate in the Phased Retirement program.
Full-time tenure-line faculty and full-time lecturers with at least 10 years of consecutive SUNY service and who are retirement-eligible may participate in the Phased Retirement Program.
This information session will review the eligibility requirements, program details, and the process to participate in the program.
Designing Your Retirement: Designing a Satisfying, Self-Directed Life After Retirement
Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2 – 3 p.m.

Description: In this session, participants will be guided through reflecting on their prior experience with work-related transitions and taking stock of their current lifestyle.
The trainer will introduce some big ideas that are changing how people can think about planning for retirement, and introduce the seven characteristics of life satisfaction. Participants will then be guided through exercises to help them think about how to design their retirement.
This training is open to all faculty and staff.
Pathfinder – Retirement Financial Planning – NEW!
Wednesday, Aug. 18, 12 – 1 p.m.

Description: The Pathfinder is AIG’s financial planning software that allows a person to put their financial plan to a “stress test.” We look at current income, future retirement income (pension and social security), current assets (both retirement and non-retirement), current annual savings, retirement goal date, expenses and more, which allows us to determine if a person is on track or if they need to make some changes to get on track for a successful retirement.
(Note: You do not need to be an AIG client to participate in this session.)

Paying for Your Benefits in Retirement / Medicare Information Session
Friday, Aug. 20, 12 – 1 p.m.

Description: This session will discuss health care benefits coverage in retirement, including how accrued Sick Leave time can help pay for your coverage, and information about Medicare coverage and payments.
