Guide to troubleshooting card access issues as summer classes begin
As summer classes get underway this week, we’re sharing a few reminders about our COVID-19 testing and vaccination policies, and how these may impact your card access to campus buildings over the next few months.
All campus buildings are card-access-only during Summer Session
All students, faculty and staff will need to use their campus ID cards to access campus buildings during the summer months.
In addition to being card-access-only, some buildings are also operating with reduced hours. You can find hours of operation for many buildings, including the Sojourner Truth Library and the Athletic & Wellness Center, on their websites.
Your card access may be revoked if you don’t fulfill COVID-19 testing requirements
SUNY’s mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing policy is still in effect for unvaccinated people for every week they are on campus during Summer Session.
Students who fail to meet this requirement may have their card access suspended.
The College is providing on-campus testing once per week all summer long to help our community meet the testing requirement. See here for more info and the schedule for summer testing.
You can restore your card access by getting a COVID-19 test and sending us your results by May 24
If you lost your card access due to testing violations, or if you never activated your card access in the spring, you can still regain card access in time for Summer Session.
Students in this situation must get tested by May 24, 2021, to maintain or restore card access for the summer.
On-campus testing is available on May 24 at College Terrace. You must make an appointment to take advantage of this option. Click here to make an appointment.
If you choose to get tested off campus, please send your test results by email to the Student Health Service at healthservice@newpaltz.edu as soon as you receive them.
If you’re fully vaccinated AND uploaded your vaccine status, you do not need to test
All members of our community who have been fully vaccinated AND submitted their vaccination info to the College through my.newpaltz.edu are exempt from SUNY’s mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing policy as of Monday, May 17.
The exemption will be processed automatically when you confirm your vaccination status with the College. Get more information here about how to share your vaccination status and get your COVID-19 profile updated.
Once your vaccination status has been confirmed, you will no longer lose card access for failure to test.
