Student teachers available now to provide free online instruction to k-12 children
Do your children in grades k-12 need online help with schoolwork? Enrichment activities? A story? SUNY New Paltz student teachers are ready to help!
Seniors and graduate students in the School of Education are mobilizing to provide free remote instruction to children in the region. The new program is designed to serve the community while also allowing teacher candidates to fulfill their certification requirements.
Parents can sign their children up for this new Online Enrichment Program using this link.
Participants will receive tailored instruction from student teachers who were working in regional schools prior to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent school closures. These teacher candidates are three months away from initial certification and qualified to deliver:
- Hands-on activities in various subjects, including STEM
- Literacy instruction and story time read-alouds
- Problem-solving and skill-building games
- Small group activities for home-bound children in one family
