Campus community members can view updates at the Coronavirus Information and Coronavirus FAQs webpages, which are being updated regularly as this situation evolves.
SUNY New Paltz is adopting a new, common sense practice to help keep rooms clean, and we’re asking everyone on campus to help the system work.
Custodial staff are placing small strips of blue tape on door jambs of rooms after they have been cleaned and disinfected.
If you see blue tape on the door jamb of a room, that door opens into a clean room.
If you do not see blue tape on the door of a room, that doesn’t mean the room has not been cleaned recently; only that someone may have used that room since the last cleaning.
If you enter a room that has blue tape on the door, please dispose of the tape when you open the door.
When custodial staff see that the door is no longer taped, they will know that the room has been used recently and should be cleaned.
When they see tape on a door, they will know that room has not been used since the last cleaning, and should not need to be cleaned again.
This simple approach is important for keeping campus buildings clean, and for allowing staff to do their work safely and efficiently.
