Survey says: Student evaluations fuel New Paltz’s strong showing in latest Princeton Review college rankings
SUNY New Paltz again received rave reviews from students in the 2018 version of Princeton Review’s annual college rankings, earning a place on the publication’s list of the 229 best colleges and universities in the Northeast U.S.
Princeton Review’s methodology is uniquely focused on student feedback. Their evaluation starts with a survey of students (137,000 this year) who each respond to 80 questions about their college’s academics, administration, campus culture and student body.
Respondents to this year’s survey had plenty of good things to say about SUNY New Paltz:
- The College is “all about creating successful members of society, educating students in the fields they feel passionate about and making sure every student enjoys their time spent here”
- New Paltz “allows all students to be themselves, even if they don’t necessarily fit [the] mold,” and is welcoming of people from “different backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, etc.”
- The curriculum helps students become “more analytical, critical thinker[s]”
- Faculty care about “the well-being and success of their students,” and provide “ample time outside the classroom to…[offer] help” when it’s needed”
