Scholarship Reception celebrates generosity and academic excellence
SUNY New Paltz scholarship recipients met with donors, alumni and Foundation Board members at the 2017 Scholarship and Tower Society Reception, celebrating the College community’s robust philanthropic investment in students’ future successes.
“To our guests and supporters, we are thrilled to have you here today to celebrate the accomplishments of our scholarship recipients and to acknowledge your generosity, said President Donald P. Christian.
“Your gifts ensure that our most talented and deserving students have the opportunity to rise to their full academic potential. As you see when you look around the room, the potential among our students is tremendous. The impact your support has on the lives of these students cannot be overstated, and I am humbled by the increasing generosity I’ve seen in my six years as president.”
The SUNY New Paltz Foundation was able to provide support for 286 scholarship awards totaling more than $740,000 during the 2016-17 academic year.
Many New Paltz alumni offer gifts to students through the Foundation. Their contributions include both monetary gifts and the gift of sharing their time to attend events and engage with the College. Both types of philanthropy play an instrumental role in creating opportunities for current students to thrive.
This year’s Reception also included a moment of special recognition for members of the Tower Society, who plan their gifts to the College as deferred bequests.
