The SUNY New Paltz School of Business announces the return of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which provides free tax help to individuals with a gross income below $54,000.
The VITA program connects community members with certified student volunteers who have received IRS training to provide basic tax return preparation assistance and free electronic filing (e-filing).
The walk-in service, housed in van den Berg Hall room 105 on the New Paltz campus, will be open from Feb. 6 to April 14 (excluding the semester break from March 20-24) on the following days:
Mondays: 2 – 8 p.m.
Tuesdays: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 2 – 4 p.m.
Wednesdays: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. & 6 – 8 p.m.
Thursdays: 12 – 6 p.m.
Fridays: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 2 – 4 p.m.
If you are interested in taking advantage of this free service, please be sure to bring photo ID and Social Security Cards; all informational statements such as W-2s & 1099s; last year’s tax return (if available); and your bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit.
