Dr. Holly Atkinson coming to New Paltz as fall ’16 Distinguished Speaker, Nov. 3
The SUNY New Paltz Distinguished Speaker Series will welcome Dr. Holly Atkinson to campus on Thursday, Nov. 3, to give an address on “Health and Human Rights” at 7:30 p.m. in Lecture Center 100.
Atkinson will draw on her extensive background as a health and wellness advocate to examine the question of human rights. As a former president of the non-profit group Physicians for Human Rights, she understands first-hand the devastating effects of human rights violations on the well-being of individuals and communities.
She argues that by protecting and promoting human rights, both at home and abroad, we also protect and promote our own health, the health of our children and that of our planet.
Advanced ticket purchase is highly recommended. For further information and to purchase tickets please visit http://www.newpaltz.edu/speakerseries/ or call (845) 257-3880.
