SUNY New Paltz ranks sixth in list of top value colleges in Northeast
SUNY New Paltz has been ranked No. 6 in Great Value Colleges 2014 list of “50 Affordable Colleges in the Northeast.”
The College topped the list of the eight SUNY campuses included in the ranking.
Great Value Colleges is a well-known website that helps students with college searches. To make its list of the top value colleges, New Paltz scored high on eight quality indicators that the website calls a good measure of a student’s potential “depth and breadth” of experience at an institution: graduation rate, freshmen retention rate, student-to-faculty ratio, percentage of classes taught by graduate assistants, average entrance ACT score, number of campus organizations and number of academic programs. Affordability also is taken into account as well as inclusion in Forbes magazine’s list of top colleges.
“We are proud to be considered so highly in this ranking for delivering a quality education at an exceptional value,” said Lisa Jones, dean of admission. “This testimonial is yet another reflection of our commitment to provide an education of the highest quality that is both affordable and accessible.”
New Paltz is nationally recognized among the nation’s top public colleges in a variety of categories: US News & World Report ranked the College 6th among public masters institutions in the North; Kiplinger’s Best Values in Public Higher Education ranked New Paltz 49th nationally, and listed the College among Kiplinger’s 30 Best College Values in the Mid-Atlantic, and among Kiplinger’s Best College Values Under $30,000. The College also ranked 2nd nationally in the Affordable Colleges Online list of the nation’s most affordable colleges with the biggest return on investment; ranked in The Princeton Review’s Guide to 332 Green Colleges; and was recognized by the US Department of State among the nation’s leaders in Fulbright Scholars.
