Best-selling children’s book author Robert Sabuda to speak at New Paltz’s Sojourner Truth Library

NEW PALTZ – The Friends of the Sojourner Truth Library at the State University of New York at New Paltz will host a book signing and lecture with pop-up book author Robert Sabuda on Wednesday, April 4. The book signing will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a lecture at 5 p.m., followed by a reception. All events will be held in Lecture Center Room 104 and are free and open to the public.

Sabuda, a #1 New York Times best-selling children’s book creator, will discuss some of the methods he uses to create his work and will present a brief history of movable and pop-up books in the presentation, “Popping Up Through Time and Space.” A selection of his pop-up books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

Sabuda is a two-time recipient of the New York Times Best Illustrated Book Award. He is the co-creator of the Encyclopedia Prehistorica pop-up trilogy, which has been translated into over 25 languages and distributed worldwide. He began a program at The Pratt Institute in New York City in Paper Engineering that continues to encourage the next generation of paper artists. He also served as an associate professor at Pratt, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He appears regularly on the television programs The Today Show, Good Morning America and Martha Stewart.
