ROCHESTER, NY– The New Paltz men’s and women’s swimming teams competed at R.I.T. this afternoon. The Hawks faced Geneseo in a conference meet and also went up against R.I.T.The women defeated R.I.T. by a score of 167-121 and they fell to Geneseo by the score of 220.50-73.50.The men fell to R.I.T. by a score of 150-144 and fell to Geneseo 220-68.
On the women’s side, the relay team of Yuka Suzuka, Becky Baker, Allison Wells, and Marissa Morris finished second in the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:10.02.Jessica Lester finished second in the 1650 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 18:18.05 and teammate Melinda Pullen finished third with a time of 18:20.42.Marissa Morris finished second in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:59.36.Yuka Suzuka came in second place participating in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:02.57.
In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Becky Baker took first clocking in at 1:09.37.Allison Wells finished third with a time of 25.59 in the 50 Yard Freestyle.Marissa Morris finished second in the 100 Yard Freestyle coming in at 55.11.Yuka Suzuka finished first in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:12.43.Becky Baker came in fourth with a time of2:34.81 in the 200 Yard Breaststroke.
On the men’s side, the relay team of Jesse Sweeney, Keith MacDonald, Steve Cozzolongo, and Billy Papetti finished third in the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:41.56.Pete Nastasi finished second with a time of 17:19.83 and teammate Marc Battisti finished third with a time of 17:35.77 in the 1650 Yard Freestyle.Rob Webb finished third in the 100 Yard Breaststroke clocking in at 1:02.26.Zack Lowenstein came in fourth with a time of 2:01.62 in the 200 Yard Backstroke.Pete Nastasi finished second in the 500 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 5:00.37.Steve Cozzolongo won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 52.55.Rob Webb finished second in the 400 Yard IM clocking in at 4:24.74.The relay team of Billy Papetti, Pat Rathbun, Jesse Sweeney, and Steve Cozzolongo finished second in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay touching in at 3:18.23.
