Hawk Swimmers Fall Short to Cortland

CORTLAND, NY- The New Paltz men’s and women’s swimming teams fell to host Cortland Friday night to wrap-up the regular season swimming meets. The men fell to the Red Dragons, 152-130 and the women fell 144-140. The men’s team falls to 2-6 overall and the women fall to 3-5 overall.

On the women’s side, Jessica Lester had a strong meet with three first place finishes and a second place in her four events. She won the 100 Yard Freestyle, 500 Yard Freestyle and was apart of the relay team to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Her second place finish came in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

Yuka Suzuka had three second place finishes and a win in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Suzuka was apart of the relay team that finished second in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and also was second in the 100 Yard Backstroke and 200 Yard Backstroke.

Marissa Morris won all four events she took place in. She won the 200 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard IM and was apart of the relay team to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.

On the men’s side, Rob Webb touched in first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, 200 Yard Breaststroke and the 200 Yard IM. Marc Battisti was first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle and the 500 Yard Freestyle.

Steve Cozzolongo swam strong winning an event and finishing second in two. He won the 100 Yard Backstroke and was second in the 100 Yard Butterfly and part of the team in the 200 Yard Medley Relay to touch in second. Pete Nastasi finished second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle and third in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
