POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The New Paltz men’s and women’s swimming team defeated Vassar Saturday afternoon. The women defeated the Brewers 128-102 and the men won 126-101.
The women’s team won eight events and finished second in seven. The relay team of Megan Gordon, Amanda Cloer, Katina Lown, and Allie Moorhead won the 200 Yard Medley Relay in 1:53.89.
In the 1000 Yard Freestyle, Lizzie Lodinsky won with a time of 11:33.11 and Molly Hoarty came in second with a time of 11:48.62. Jessica Lester won the 200 Yard Freestyle touching in at 2:02.49 and Melinda Pullen came in second with a time of 2:05.30.
Marissa Morris came in second place in the 50 Yard Freestyle touching in at 26.10. In the 400 Yard IM Yuka Suzuka touched in at second with a time of 4:55.37. In the 100 Yard Butterfly Allison Wells came in first with a time of 1:04.38 and Kate Genovese finished second touching in at 1:06.03.
Becky Baker finished second in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 57.88. Morris won the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:02.17. In the 500 Yard Freestyle Hoarty came in first with a time of 5:23.70 and Pullen finished second touching in at 5:25.80.
In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Baker finished first with a time of 1:10.46. In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay the team of Lown, Morris, Lester, and Wells finished first touching in at 1:43.09.
On the men’s side, the men won seven events and finished second in seven. The relay team of Zack Lowenstein, Rob Webb, Sam Gaynes, and Matt Demerest won the 200 Yard Medley Relay touching in at 1:42.79 and the team of Jesse Sweeney, Keith MacDonald, Steve Cozzolongo, and Billy Papetti finished second with a time of 1:43.34.
In the 1000 Yard Freestyle Pete Nastasi finished first with a time of 10:19.53 and Nick Dubois came in second with a time of 10:30.85. Marc Battisti won the 200 Yard Freestyle touching in at 1:51.29. Pat Rathbun won the 50 Yard Freestyle touching in at 22.96.
In the 400 Yard IM Lowenstein finished second touching in at 4:25.60. MacDonald took home second place in the 1 Meter Diving with a time of 81.20. Gaynes finished second in the 100 Yard Butterfly touching in at 57:85.
In the 100 Yard Freestyle Rathbun finished first with a time of 50.40 and teammate Lowenstein finished right behind him touching in at 50.52. Cozzolongo won the 100 Yard Backstroke touching in at 54.30. In the 500 Yard Freestyle Dubois finished first with a time of 5:12.11 and teammate Bryan Pirrone finished second touching in at 5:14.31.
The Hawks return to the pool December 4-6th at ECAC’s, the site is to be announced shortly.
