Women’s Volleyball Wins the Stevens Tournament
HOBOKEN, NJ- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team finished up the Stevens Tournament with two victories over Montclair State and Stevens.
In the morning game, the Hawks defeated Montclair 3-0 by the scores of 27-25, 25-17, 25-19. Brittany Coyle led the Hawks with 13 kills and Alison Kiernan added 11. Stephanie Bova had a double-double with 37 assists, 11 digs and added eight kills on nine attempts. Stephanie Skrobach had 10 kills to help the Hawks in the victory.
The Hawks defeated Stevens 3-1 to win the tournament by the scores of 25-18, 21-25, 25-14, 25-21. Bova once again led the attack with a double-double with 40 assists and 12 digs. Melinda DiGiovanna tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs and Skrobach 10 kills. Coyle and Kiernan each had nine kills a piece and Loren Crabbe led the defensive with 22 digs.
Senior Stephanie Bova was named Tournament MVP and senior Brittany Coyle was named to the All-Tournament Team. The Hawks have won six in a row and 14 of 15 to improve to 16-5 overall on the season. New Paltz returns to the court Wednesday for a non-conference match-up at Hunter College at 7 p.m.
