POTSDAM, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team defeated Potsdam 1-0 Friday evening to earn their first conference win of the season. The win also snaps the Hawks seven game winless streak.
Emily Buckner scored the goal in the 32nd minute to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead. The Hawks would hold a slight advantage in shots, 6-5 at the half.
Lisa Bates recorded the loss in net, saving seven shots. Potsdam falls to 6-5-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the SUNYAC.
Stephanie Vega recorded the win in net, stopping seven shots for her fifth shutout of the season. New Paltz improves to 4-6-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the SUNYAC. The Hawks return to the field tomorrow against Plattsburgh at 1 p.m. on the campus of Plattsburgh State.
