Volleyball Continues to Roll with Win over Hunter

NEW YORK, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team defeated host Hunter College 3-0 by the scores of 25-9, 25-16, 25-15 Wednesday night.  The Hawks have won seven straight and 15 of 16 games.

Christine Luebcke had a game-high 11 kills and Mallory Grubler and Tracey Igwe each tallied five kills for Hunter College.  Katina Boutis handed out 18 assists and eight digs.  Hunter falls to 13-9 overall.

Melinda DiGiovanna had a team-high 10 kills to lead the attack and Alison Kiernan chipped in with seven.  Stephanie Bova handed out a game-high 25 assists and Kelsey Garmendia added eight.  Priska Wilson and Bova each had a team-high eight digs to lead the defensive.

The Hawks improves to 17-5 and return to the court Wednesday, October 14 against Williams College at 7 p.m. in the Hawk Center.  The Hawks will honor the seniors and the fight against Breast Cancer with a “Dig Pink” Night.
