Schloss Leads Hawks Past Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ- The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team continued to improve on last years record with a 3-2 victory over the Roadrunners of Ramapo. The Hawks posted their eighth win of the year which is the highest win total since 2004.

The Hawks struck first when Sarah Schloss pass found Maryana Organidis for the goal in the 18th minute. It was Organidis first goal on the season and Schloss’s team-high 10th assist of the season. The Roadrunners would score the equalizer with just 48 seconds remaining in the half when Jayne Manigrasso scored of a penalty corner. Ramapo held a 9-4 shot advantage in the first half.

Ramapo would take the 2-1 lead 1:14 into the second half when Manigrasso scored her second goal of the game when Aimee Herbert found her open.

Schloss would lead the Hawks right back with her 11th assist of the season, setting up Kristen Bergmann for her first goal of the game and 13th of the season, to tie the contest at 2-2 in the 39th minute.

Schloss would net the game-winner in the 47th minute with her 12th goal of the season.

Ann Marie Rudd tallied two defensive saves and Caitlin Ryder tallied one.

Megan Tierney recorded the loss in net, stopping five shots and allowing three goals. Ramapo falls to 6-9 overall.

Elizabeth Tong earned her seventh win of the season in net, stopping nine shots on the afternoon. The Hawks improve to 8-10 overall. New Paltz returns to the field Wednesday against Stevens at 4 p.m. on the campus of Stevens.
