Hawks Down Plattsburgh in Nightcap
CORTLAND, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team followed their dramatic victory over Cortland with a three set victory over the Cardinals from Plattsburgh. The Hawks improve to 24-5 overall and 5-1 in the SUNYAC with their 14th straight victory and 22 of their last 23 games.
In the first set, the Hawks dominated the Cardinals 25-10, but the Cardinals rebounded in the second set only tofall short 27-25. The Hawks would take the third set 25-20 for the victory.
Kelcey Garmendia led the Hawks attack, dishing out 24 assists helping Tara Annunziata to five kills and Maddy Gergen to four kills. Kelcey Noble led the defense with 11 digs while Kelly Lavender had four aces on the night.
The Hawks finish up conference pool play tomorrow against Oneonta at 12 p.m. and Potsdam at 2 p.m. at Cortland.
