Hawks Fall to Oneonta
ONEONTA, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team fell to host Oneonta, Saturday afternoon 2-0.
Oneonta scored in the 28th minute when Evan Jedynak received a pass from Nicholas Lange to beat the Hawks keeper upper left corner for the early lead.
Just prior to the goal, Tommy Garafola had a chance to put the Hawks up when his header deflected off Oneonta’s keeper, but was cleared away by the defender.
The Red Dragons held a 1-0 advantage at the half and held a 7-1 shot differential.
The Hawks had a chance to tie the contest at 1-1, but Michael Santalesa shot just went wide of the left post.
Nicholas Gregg had the insurance goal for the Red Dragons in the 71st minute off a rebound when Dan Scott’s initial shot was stopped by the Hawks keeper.
Jonathan Korn recorded the win net, saving one shot. Oneonta improves to 6-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the SUNYAC.
Peter Carmel recorded the loss in net, saving five shots. The Hawks drop their second game in a row and fall to 4-2-2 overall and 0-1-0 in the SUNYAC. New Paltz returns to the field Friday against Buffalo State at 4:00 p.m. on the campus of Buffalo State.
