Gentsch Finishes First; Harmon Finishes Second at Vassar
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s cross country team both finished second at the Vassar Invite. It is highest the women’s team has finished at the invitational in the programs history.
On the men’s side, junior Joe Gentsch (Staten Island/Curtis) won the race in 20:25 to propel the Hawks to the second place finish. Senior Rob Grazier (West Islip) finished 12th with a time of 21:40 and freshman Jeff Raab (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) finished 14th with a time of 21:54. Dexter Larsen (Monroe/Washingtonville) and Robert Webster (Central Islip) rounded out the top five times for the Hawks with a 22nd and 23rd finish.
On the women’s side, junior Danielle Harmon (Pearl River) finished with a time of 20:26 for a second place finish. Senior Lisa Cassaro (West Islip) finished in eighth place with a 21:04 time and freshman Chanelle Santilli (Fishkill/John Jay) with a 21:30 time finished in 11th place. Sara Wenger (New York/The Beacon School) and Nichole Wischoff (Cooperstown) finished 16th and 18th respectfully for the Hawks.
The Hawks return to race on September 19th at the Bard Invitational at 12 p.m.
