Thirteen female student-athletes and assistant coaches from across the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) participated in the third annual Women’s Coaching Symposium held on the campus of SUNY New Paltz from May 19-21. The primary goal of the symposium is to expose young women to the world of intercollegiate athletics outside of being a student-athlete. The participants had a chance to network and hear presentations from female administrators and coaches from across the conference on recruiting, philosophy, sportsmanship, transitioning into a coaching role and balancing work and family. A major theme throughout the symposium was to better understand Title IX and the changes that have taken place throughout history for women in athletics.
